TECHNOLOGY USE

QUERY

Given the rapidly advancing technology, how do we define digital citizenship and how do we effectively teach it at different age levels? How do we partner with parents around the student use of technology at developmentally appropriate ages?

ACTION

Each working group was composed of Shady Hill School faculty and staff who met monthly between October 2023 and May 2024 to explore the key questions within each priority area, and establish a plan for moving forward.

OUTCOME

Ongoing discussions with parents about responsible technology use
Hosted a Wait Until 8th presentation on phones usage
Two new research groups are exploring AI and digital literacy curriculum
Piloted Digital Citizenship Program with Grades II through VIII

STRATEGIC PLAN WORKING GROUPS

Seven working groups have been formed to study these priority areas and to create a roadmap for Shady Hill. Each group is composed of faculty, staff and administration. The groups are:
